Motorstorm was for many the first “gee whiz” title on the PlayStation 3. While the graphics weren’t quite up to snuff with the target renders, they were still indicative of what a next generation racer should look like. Even better, the game was fast and fun. Now the BBC has details on Motorstorm 2 and it appears to be taking a page from the Crysis playbook.
In the spirit of the tropical island shooter, Motorstorm 2 will find racers ditching the desert canyons for lush tropical vegetation. Even better, that vegetation will be interactive. So, palm trees racers can plow through? That’s exactly what Motorstorm was missing-destruction of the local environment.
Still, the details don’t end there. Players will also get four-player split-screen racing. That’s a definite marked improvement over the original. So, what else could players decide? Well, for one, how about more tracks out of the box? That was a major complaint when the original shipped. Additionally, what about a more robust online leader board system and customizable soundtracks? No word yet on such features, but Motorstorm 2 should be out in time for Christmas.
