Sonic Unleashed is the last glimmer of hope among many Sonic fans that the little blue Hedgehog might finally get one last decent console game. It’s been a while since Sonic Adventure 2, and even that was a step down from the original Sonic Adventure. The above trailer appears to be part of a semi-viral advertising campaign for the little blue fellow. It’s clever, but it might have worked better before other trailers were released revealing the game’s “twist.”
The second trailer above showcases quite a bit of gameplay, and boy does it look fast. It also features some “hairy” gameplay (not wanting to completely ruin the twist here for those who don’t want to know). The new gameplay looks interesting, and while it will certainly turn off some purists, it might also be fun to add such melee combat to the series. We shall see. But it’s fast, and that’s the number one thing this game had to get right.
