Most don’t remember the Master System as it was Sega’s first attempt at a home console, in 1986. Graphically superior and more powerful then the NES it sold well in Europe and South America, but sold poorly in North America and Japan, due to Nintendo’s hold on the market.
Finally, King’s Knight! A game that will make you question, did Square really have something to do with this? It just seems so unlike the Square that has become known as a one trick pony.

GameStop, that bastion of used-game goodness, recently revealed some fairly expected news for gamers. In an investor conference call, GameStop executives revealed that Wii shortages will likely last the next six months, while both the Xbox 360 and PS3 look headed for $50 price drops.
Executives stressed that the price cuts were not official but simply their speculation. They also happened to speculate about a $30 price cut on the PS2. None of this is too surprising, as people have been expecting such a cut on the PS2 for nearly a year now. The Xbox 360 and PS3 price cuts would go a long way toward getting both closer to a mass market price of $200-250. (more…)
In the least shocking news in months, Hudson has announced that Bomberman is coming to the Wii via the WiiWare platform. Even more shocking, they hint the little blue and white guy might be headed to the PS3. Again, a huge shock.
The WiiWare version of Bomberman will apparently be based on Bomberman Live for the Xbox 360, but with some changes. Who wants to take bets those changes will involve graphics and online multiplayer? In addition, the PS3 version for the PSN is simply a rumor for now, but Hudson says that platform’s maturity has finally made it viable to develop for. (more…)
First some Wiis can’t read the discs and now this? What else can Brawl fans hope for?
According to some, it’s impossible to get online and play a match during the evening. It seems people are getting disconnected and are receiving endless error messages. Well hopefully Nintendo remedies this problem soon. Maybe next time they’ll take the time to fully test a product. If nothing else, just keep trying to get online.
This new gameplay video of Mario KartWii does a couple of things. First, it shows off many of the new tracks in the game. They look beautiful, and while the Wii may not be the graphical powerhouse that the PS3 and Xbox 360 are, it more than holds its own with this title. Second, it showcases the new trick system and motorcycles. Both look, well, interesting. Neither is exactly sellable from this video alone, but at least they don’t look broke, either.
You’re not alone. In fact, Nintendo has set up a special support page for people with this problem. This has, no doubt, angered many Super Smash Bros. fans who have waited for the game after delays set back the release date, only to find out their Wii won’t even play it.
Since the game is a dual layered DVD with a lot of memory stored on it, some Wii’s are having trouble reading the disc. According to Nintendo, “A very small percentage of Wii consoles may have trouble consistently reading data off this large capacity disc if there is some contamination on the lens of the disc drive. Nintendo has specialized cleaning equipment that can resolve this problem.” (more…)

MapWii is a neat little Google Maps mashup site that plots Wii owners around the world. The neat part is that you can sort by games they own and players can enter their Wii friend codes. Sure, it isn’t quite as elegant as Xbox Live, but it’s better than nothing. (more…)
As April Fool’s Day looms ever closer, things seem to be popping up everywhere that one would assume are clever pranks. For example, on THQ’s website recently it was announced that they would be venturing into the unexplored realm of cheerleading games. This, however, is no joke and THQ is hoping that it will take advantage of, as they put it, “the explosive growth of the girls gaming market in recent years due to the continued success of Wii and DS.”
All Star Cheer Squad for the Wii will follow a year in the life of a cheerleader from learning cheers to creating new routines and eventually become captain of the squad. You’ll use the Wiimote and the nunchuck to perform real cheer and dance moves and to ensure real cheerleading authenticity THQ has even signed on Tony G, who is best known for his work in the Bring It On movies.
