Let’s just clear the air right from the start– Mogul 2009 is not for the arcade crowd.  It’s a stats-loving geek’s dream come true, but it will likely not appeal to most fans of video games.  That being said, those that do fall within its target demographic will find a very enjoyable game with a few unfortunate stumbles.

As noted, the Mogul series is for those who subscribe to Weekly, or are just really into fantasy leagues.  It’s essentially the franchise mode of any console game without the excitement of occasionally stepping up to the plate.  Instead, the excitement comes from a well done trade or watching a draft pick make their way from the single A ball all the way to a starting spot in the majors.

Video game soundtracks are becoming more and more something gamers actually pay attention to. Where it once was all synthesized orchestra-style , games are now becoming big business to debut new bands and cash in on old ones. Oddly enough, games such as are leading that change.

2K Sports and Pitchfork Media have teamed up on the newest yearly incarnation of the franchise. will feature a soundtrack half chosen by and half chosen by Pitchfork Media, with each song designated as a Pitchfork Pick. In addition, will join the 3rd Annual Pitchfork/Windish Agency day party at the SXSW 2008 conference in Austin, Texas on Friday, March 14th.
