There’s nothing wrong with obsession, except when it leads to stalking some actress outside of her Beverly Hills mansion every night. Otherwise, though, obsession channeled in the right direction can lead to cool things like a working Lego version of the arcade classic Donkey Kong. Take that Calvin Klein.
Another newspaper on the side of games being useful in education

Are video games all bad? Sure, everyone knows seven year-old Timmy should not be playing Grand Theft Auto probably, but there has to be some redeeming value to some game out there for him, right? The Northwestern of Oshkosh, Wisconsin contends that issue is, as always, a little complicated.
The article in question profiles one family which recently started allowed their children to play video games. Their reaction so far has been that the games have taught their children about sharing and that losing is a part of life. Sounds like great life lessons. Image of the day: the evolution of Nintendo, with special guest

If you’ve spent much time browsing about online, odds are that you’ve seen those evolutions of Mario complication images. Some have even included Link from The Legend of Zelda. This new one, however, is above all the rest. Not only does it feature Mario, Link, Samus, Donkey Kong and Kirby, but it features a certain blue guest star. Will someone eventually top this one? Yes, but that’s probably a bit much for most. Click on the image for a full sized version.
The King of Kong aftermath; from conspiracy theories to the big screen

Fans of the documentary The King of Kong will tell you that it was not only one of the best documentaries of last year, but one of the best films period. Viewers became so engrossed in the story that it has led many to want to follow the continuing storyline as it develops. Don’t count on a sequel, though, as director Seth Gordon says film villain Billy Mitchell is none too pleased with the finished film.
Among other things that Gordon reveals to The Age, he states that Mitchell feels like the film portrays him unfairly. Apparently Mitchell has been contacting journalists covering the film wanting to give his own perspective on the events chronicled in the film. That doesn’t sound at all like the conniving control freak portrayed in the movie, does it? More >
