Mario Kart is oddly one of those Nintendo franchises that fans love to complain about, yet continually buy. The tweaking between each new iteration can be maddening to many fans, but it is what keeps the franchise fresh. Still, some fans weren’t quite happy with Nintendo’s development track and they released their own version for the PC. Based on the Source engine that powers Half-Life 2, Mario KartSource may not be much to look at, but the gameplay sure seems to be there in spades.
The Weighted Companion Cube knows a thing or two about finding that one true special companion to walk you through your life. Sure, there’s ups and downs in any relationship, but in the end only your companion’s tight embrace can set you on fire. Now that such pesky paternity issues are cleared up, the more interesting question is where exactly does Portal fit into the Half-Life world? Newell has an answer, sort of. In the same interview he states, (more…)
This is a tough one, as it almost works as a game title. It completely sums up the theme of the game that there are some causes and some things in life that extend beyond the terms “good” and “evil.” Why does it only almost work? Because no piece of art (and if you choose such a pretentious title you are going for art) should ever be title its theme. How much boring would Heart of Darkness be if the title were Descent Into Madness? What if Star Wars were Trust Yourself and Use the Force? Yeah, it just doesn’t really work, even for great art.
